Our Kitchen Manager has ordered 80 pounds of pasta. A gallon vanilla extract. I don't know what else.

When I bring pasta for lunch, I usually have about 0.44 pounds (precooked weight), so 80 pounds is enough to feed me for 180 workdays. The vanilla extract a good deal longer.

(Pasta from Sysco is about a third the cost of HEB [which I guess is cheaper than Costco].)

Premise: I currently lack any health problems associated with too much sugar.

So when determining the healthfulness of cereal for me, sugar content is not much of an issue. What is relevant? Whether it's fortified with loads of vitamins and the like. All too often, the 'healthy' cereal isn't. It's pretty much just wheat (so, some niacin and/or iron + fiber and a little protein). The 'junk cereals', on the other hand, are pretty much always fortified with 25%+ DV of oh so many useful nutrients.

For me, for now, Frosted Flakes and Froot Loops are a healthier choice than Autumn Wheat.

Grape Nuts are an exception, but they're disgusting. Things like Total probably would be acceptable.

I made lasagne for supper.
Same recipe I always use, even though there are now four people instead of six.

However, though I used the same amount of dough, I think I used more cheese than usual.

We had no parmesan, so I used extra mozzarella. As in, more than half of a 2LB bag. The whole bag was supposed to be 32 servings, so I'm guessing I used about 20 servings.

Roughly 1.8lb of tomato sauce. (~13 servings). Basically, one large can.

Roughly 1.5lb of cottage cheese. (6 servings). One container.

We had a little lasagne left over (what I'd consider a decent serving), despite my probably eating over a third of it. Meaning I got about eight servings of cheese.

A few days ago I decided to make a sandwich. Yay! Swiss cheese and fake meat and sauerkraut and Russian dressing and extra-delicious bread. Toasted. It was great.

So I made another. Also delicious.

Over the course of the day I made four of those sandwiches, each as delish as the last, except for one that got a soggy spot from overly wet sauerkraut.1

Anyway, I was pondering whether I should have another when I noticed the now-half-empty Swiss cheese actually said 'Mozzarella' on the package. In retrospect, this explained the flavour, and the texture, and the lack of holes always found in what passes for Swiss cheese in the US. Oh well. Mozzarella is probably better, anyway.

I don't really have a point, but I figured I should post something, and my sister found the episode quite amusing.

1 Oh, and I guess the one after that was as delicious as the one before what was then the last.
